From June 16-26, 2011, Uruguay will be represented for the 4th time at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, one of the largest world theatre events held in Prague, Czech Republic every fourth year since 1967. Uruguay will participate in the Student Section with an exhibition, Pretending to Look, presenting students’ work from the Montevidean School of Dramatic Arts, thus competing with a record number of 62 countries for various medals...


In addition to the traditional competitive world exhibition of performance design and architecture, the 12th edition of the Prague Quadrennial will offer much: visitors will discover a unique outdoor performing exhibition, Intersection: Intimacy & Spectacle, presenting thirty internationally acclaimed artists, including Romeo Castellucci, Anna Viebrock, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Nathaniel Mellors, and Josef Nadj. Furthermore, a large number of projects will take place in public spaces throughout the city – a unique occasion to discover Prague through the eyes of the world’s contemporary artists. Visitors will also be able to explore various disciplines essential to the performing arts thanks to projects focused on lighting and sound design, architecture, and costumes, as well as talks with personalities such as Arata Isozaki, Es Devlin, Richard Sennett, Mirosław Bałka, and many more. Over 40,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend, making Prague the center of the performance world for those very special 11 days, from June 16-26, 2011.
